I had a really great time at MCM Scotland Comic Con in Glasgow at the weekend. There was a lot more to see than last time I went in 2017. I was really happy that many of the stalls from other MCM events in England, and Hyper Japan made the effort to come up to Scotland. Here’s some of my favourites and what I bought.
My favourite part of comic cons is….comics! I bought a few, and wanted loads more. These Littlest Friends comics by Timothy Winchester are so cute and wholesome, about a group of animal friends. You can read the comic online at Webtoons too.
It was also cool to meet Sarah Graley and get a book signed. I love travelogues and this is a fun comic about their trip to the USA including San Diego Comic Con, theme parks and New York. She also had some adorable plushies of her cats! You can read the comic online too.
Van Nim was a new discovery for me and I really like her art style. I only got a tiny comic about the man in the moon but her bigger comics and prints were all so pretty.
There was a lot of cute fan art too but I really liked the muted watercolour style of Roxy Shanks – and the Totoro plant pots! It was difficult to decide what to buy, so I just got some postcards to share with Natasja. There’s more on Etsy if you’d like some too.
I Like Cats
It was nice to catch up with Toby of I Like Cats and get a peek at his new book. It’s fully funded on Kickstarter so look out for that on Etsy later this month. I was truly overwhelmed by the huge choice of cats but managed to pick a pin and washi tape.
And I couldn’t go home without a Halloween Loppy from Tofu Cute! I got one of the keychain size with a tiny pumpkin – it’s so soft. I really must get my Halloween decorations up soon so I can enjoy them.
You can see more from MCM Scotland Comic Con on our saved Instagram highlight. The next MCM events are in London on 25-27 October and Birmingham on 16-17 November. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth going.
